10 Types Of Travel Bucket Lists You Need

Whether you’re a regular traveller or just someone who loves to keep things organized and ticking things off a list, it’s always handy to have your own unique travel bucket lists created by you!

But hear me out, if you only have one bucket list for everything you want to do/achieve in your life, it’s most likely to be very very long and hard to find your way around! That’s why you absolutely need to divide it into specific categories. Not sure what types of categories I’m talking about? Well this blog is all about it! Here are 10 types of bucket lists you need to have!

1. 7 Wonders Of The World

The first travel bucket list you need is one of the 7 Wonders Of The World! This one is rather short as there are only 7 to see but it’s one of the most important travel bucket lists to have! It includes landmarks from Brazil through Egypt and all the way to India! Visiting all the seven wonders is definitely a big goal of mine as they are all major landmarks one must see in their lifetime. Can’t remember which are the 7 Wonder of the World? Here’s a list of them all!

1. The Pyramids of Gizeh, Egypt

2. Christ The Redeemer, Brazil

3. Petra, Jordan

4. Taj Mahal, India

5. Colloseum, Italy

6. Chichén Itza, Mexico

7. Machu Picchu, Peru

I can personally already tick 4 off that list already!! Visiting Machu Picchu in Peru is definitely a big goal of mine and definitely on top of my bucket list though!

2. Countries

This one is rather an obvious and classic but sometimes, it’s easily overlooked! All you have to do for this travel bucket list is make a very very long list of the ~195 countries that exist in the world and voilà, you’re all set! Ticking a country off the list after you’ve come back from your trip is very rewarding! This bucket list also helps you to keep track of the exact number of countries you’ve visited in your life.

3. Travel Challenges

In opposition to the country bucket list I just mentioned, this one,s not everyone thinks of/wants to have! Basically, you just need to make a list of all the travel challenges you would like to do, and where, how you would like to achieve them. Not sure exactly what I mean by travel challenges? You can check my blog post out here to get more travel challenges ideas.

4. States/Cities

A lot of countries are divided in states, provinces, cantons, etc..so this travel bucket list is quite relevant for most of the places you’ll be travelling to! By creating this bucket list, it also gives you more knowledge on the country and makes you do research on places you never knew existed!

If you don’t feel like making a bucket list for every state, province, etc… of every country do it with the most famous cities instead!

Here are some examples of lists you can use: states in the US, cantons in Switzerland, provinces in China, 10 most famous cities in France and many more!

5. Continents

This travel bucket list actually has the same amount of points as the first one I mentioned: 7!

Here’s a list of all of the continents to make things easier: Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, Oceania, North America, Antarctica!

6. Experiences

I bet you’ve always wanted to bungee jump, fly in a helicopter, sleep under the stars or road trip the US. The fun part about this list is that it can be as long as you want! Personally, I have one that has over a hundred listed experiences but it’s totally up to you how long or short you want it. This is for sure one of the most customizable travel bucket lists which means it’s the most fun to create and unique to you!

7. Foods

Trying new types of food and dishes when visiting a new country is a must to get the full travel experience! You can make this list specific to every country you would want to visit or/and divide the list into the different types of foods. For example, you cant write down all the exotic fruits you want to eat, the drinks you want to try, etc..I feel like every country has their typical dish and speciality so make sure to do your research and make a full list of every food you’d like to try when visiting a new country.

8. Natural Phenomenons

Alright, so now that you’ve done a list of what you want to do, it’s time to do a list of what you want to see. From wanting to witness the Northern Lights, the midnight sun to seeing an active volcano, a waterfall there are so many natural phenomenons that are absolutely impressive!

9. Photos

If you’re a photography lover or just love taking unique photos while travelling, this bucket list is a must for you! There’s probably a dozen of photos you would do anything to capture, It could be anything from underwater photography to capturing the Milky Way!

I am pretty sure you’ve seen a lot of photos on either Instagram or Pinterest that you would like to replicate or feel inspired by. To make the creation of this list easier, make sure to divide it by either continent, country or city. Also, every time you see a photo that you would like to add to your list, you need to save it in a specific folder. By doing these two steps, creating and adding photo ideas to your photography bucket list will be so much simpler for you!

10. Modes of transport

From planes, boats to helicopters there are probably plenty of modes of transports out there that you haven’t tried yet let alone heard of! You’ve most definitely already been in a car, train, bus and plane plenty of times. But have you ever been in a helicopter, yacht, tuk-tuk or water plane?

Make sure to do your research to find the most interesting ones you would want to try and add them to your list!

As you’re creating these travel bucket lists make sure to write each list in order (on top of the list would be the thing/place you would want to visit first/the most) and keep them all in either a specific book dedicated to your bucket lists, on your computer or somewhere you can easily find them!
