10 Relatable Situations Every Traveller Can Understand

10 Relatable Situations Every Traveller Can Understand

If you’re reading this you’ve probably already travelled a couple of times and are familiar with what it’s like to prepare for a trip and arrive at the airport ready to catch your flight.

I’ve come up with a list of 10 relatable situations every traveller can understand. Either these have already happened to you or to someone you know! All of these have definitely already occurred at least during my travels once so I hope you can find these relatable too!

1. Feeling like your passport disappeared

You make sure to place your passport in the same place every time but it just seems to get lost when you need it the most (like when you are about to board your flight). This has maybe also happened to your boarding pass or phone. You just don’t know where they go! That feeling you get in your stomach when you’re frantically searching for it puts you in such a stressful mood. You feel like you’ve lost it along the way but luckily you always end up finding it somehow at the bottom of your bag!

2. Looking at the flight schedule when coming home and wishing you were flying somewhere else

airport flight schedule

I am more than certain that I’m not the only one that does this! When you’re at the airport after a long trip and are waiting to board your flight, do you also look at all the other flights on the schedule to see where in the world they’re going and wish you were flying to anywhere but home?

3. Packing extra even if you know you are only going away for a small amount of time

Who else is guilty of doing this? When you’re packing for a trip, even if it’s only for a couple of days it’s easy to just throw everything in your suitcase “just in case” you might need it. Packing 10 t-shirts and 4 pairs of shoes for a 2 days stay is definitely not useful but somehow I always end up doing it. I mean as long as my suitcase has enough space and is not completely full then why not….which brings us to our next point below…

4. Feeling relieved when your bag doesn’t go over the weight limit

airport check-in

Having a carry-on bag is always so much easier but when you’re going on a long trip it’s almost inevitable to check-in at least one bag. This situation happens especially when you feel like you’ve packed too much or if you’re coming back from your trip and have bought too much stuff. To be honest the weight limit for checked-in bags is quite low these days and paying for the overweight can quickly become expensive! So seeing that the weight is below the maximum is always such a big relief.

5. Stressing out at security thinking you’ve packed illegal stuff by accident

I don’t know why but I feel like passing through security is always so stressful. Not only is it always packed, full of people, but you also feel pressured and stressed by all the procedures you have to follow. Not going to lie but every time I go through security I feel like I somehow have some sort of illegal object on me or in my bag which I know is totally absurd because I am the one that packed my bag and I know exactly what’s in it?! I really hope I’m not the only one with such silly thoughts and that you find this situation relatable too lol!

6. Being scared to fall asleep because you don’t want to miss the food cart

Let’s be honest here. The food is the most exciting part of long haul flights, so you definitely don’t want to miss it! You’re never quite sure when exactly they’ll be passing your seat row so you always make sure to stay awake till you are able to get your food…

7. Arriving either super late or super early at the airport there is no in-between

You either arrive 5 hours before your flight or 1 hour before, I feel like it’s always either one of the two. As long as you’re able to catch your flight at the end though that’s all that counts!

8. Not unpacking as soon as you get home and having a suitcase half unpacked for weeks

When you come home from a trip most of the time you’re exhausted and just want to go to sleep (especially if you have jet lag). And then you need to go back to your everyday life and before you know it, it’s been a week since you’ve come back from your trip and your suitcase is still on your bedroom floor half empty…this happens to me probably every time!

9. Feeling relieved when your whole row is empty

Who doesn’t love an empty row? Especially when you’re travelling alone, it’s always such a relief to see that you have 3 seats all for yourself! You get to stretch your legs and even use the space to lie down and get some sleep.

If you’re one of the first people to board the plane and realize your row is empty, you just pray that everyone who’s boarding after you isn’t going to sit next to you…

10. When you’re peacefully eating or watching a movie and the person in front of you reclines their seat

I mean economy class seats are already so cramped that when the person in front of you decides to recline their seat it reduces your space by half that it becomes so hard to move your legs…especially when you’re eating your meal on the foldable table or watching a movie on the screen. You could always recline your own seat too but like I’m sure you get my point…
