Making your own Bucket List
The world is full of the most amazing and beautiful landscapes. From a hidden temple in Bhutan to the beaches of Iceland. The list could go on and on.
Creating a Bucket List is one of the most exciting things to do for every travel thirsty soul out there. It gives you a sense of satisfaction every time you get to tick off a place you’ve just travelled to.
Here are my Top 20 Places that are on my Bucket List and that you absolutely need to add to yours too!
1. Paro Taktsang, Bhutan
Located in South Asia in the beautiful country of Bhutan and being at over 3000 meters in altitude, Paro Taktsang is one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries in Bhutan. To reach it you’ll have to take a long hike up the mountain…but it’ll definitely be worth the effort!
2. Cappadocia, Turkey
With its amazing rock formations and its spectacular hot air balloon rides, Cappadocia is a must-visit when in Turkey! Stay in the amazing hotels overlooking the valley and have an beautiful view on the hundreds of hot air balloons in the sky. It’s definitely a Top Bucket List Destination.
3. Waitomo Glowworm Caves, New Zealand
Take a boat ride through the magical Glowworm Caves in New Zealand and be amazed by this natural phenomenon. Never heard of Glowworms? They are small maggots that produce their own light! Pretty impressive!
4. Avenue of the Baobabs, Madagascar
Did you know the Baobab is the emblematic tree of Madagascar? This avenue is one of the best places to see the amazing Baobab trees in Madagascar, which, with their very solid trunks can reach up to 40 meters high!
5. Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Japan
Kyoto, Japan, is where this huge bamboo forest is located. Walk through the 300-meter pathway surrounded by bamboos as you dive into another world.
6. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany
Standing in the South of Germany in Bavaria, built in the 19th century and with its fairytale-like feel, the Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most famous castles in Germany.
7. Tunnel of Love, Ukraine
The Tunnel of Love in Ukraine isn’t named like that for no reason! Being an old railway no more in use and surrounded by green arches, it is a romantic place and a perfect walk for couples.
8. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
South America is home to many salt flats including the largest called Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. The salt flats covered in water create a never-ending reflection and a real-life mirror. These salt flats are so huge you can even see them from space!
9. Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
Switzerland has loads of Bucket List destinations but the Lauterbrunnen Valley is definitely one of my top choices. As you enter this fairytale-like valley you’ll find typical wooden houses surrounded by waterfalls.
10. Crooked Forest, Poland
This spooky yet fascinating forest full of weirdly shaped pine trees is located in the west of Poland. No one is really sure why over 400 trees bend in such a special way…
11. Rainbow Mountains, Peru
At the impressive altitude of over 5000 meters, these Peruvian rainbow mountains will definitely take your breath away (literally!!). They were discovered under a layer of snow that recently melted due to climate change…
12. Ta Prohm, Cambodia
Dating back to the 12th century and part of the many temples ruins in Angkor, Cambodia, the Ta Prohm temple is an amazing site to add to your Bucket List.
13. Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Iceland
You’ve heard of white, pebble or even pink beaches but have you ever heard of these amazing black beaches in Iceland? They’re definitely not like your typical paradise beaches but that’s what makes them unique.
14. Fingal’s Cave, Scotland
On the coast of the small island of Staffa in Scotland, you’ll find Fingal’s Cave. This geometrical looking cave is in fact from totally nature formation!
15. Iguazu Falls, Brazil
These falls are situated on the border between Argentina and Brazil and go up to 82 meters high, being the largest waterfalls in the world!
16. Twelve Apostles, Australia
In the state of Victoria in Australia, you’ll encounter these amazing limestone formations, that can reach up to 50 meters high are a must-add sight to Bucket List.
17. Zaanse Schans, The Netherlands
Not far from Amsterdam, you can visit Zaanse Schans where you will find these typical windmills, aligned around water! You can even have a peek inside them to learn how they work. This is where you’ll also find the typical souvenirs shops where you can buy everything from Dutch clogs to cheese!
18. Antelope Canyon, USA
Antelope Canyon is one of the top must-visits in Arizona, USA. This canyon looks handmade but definitely isn’t! The wind took years for it to look that amazing…
19. Sigiriya Rock, Sri Lanka
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage, this rock also know as the Lion Rock is a unique site and a must-add to your Bucket List! If you are adventurous enough, you can go up about 1200 stairs that will take you up to the top!
20. Wadi Rum Desert, Jordan
If you’re looking for a never-ending landscape that looks like Mars, the Wadi Rum Desert is the place!
